Bob Ryan, Pacific County GOP Chair.

Some local residents who came to check things out.

We worked very hard to set things up... and were up early to set the final decor, tables and chairs in place.

Everything was in place and people started to arrive. Then... all of a sudden... our cat's friend, the deer appears... not 5 ft from us! She wasn't afraid...but was checking everything out. Peeking out from the new fence..were her 2 babies... cute spotted little guys. They joined Mom and continued to roam the yard... not afraid of us or the loud music...and more interested in the party decor. We stood in amazement...I was hesitant to run and grab the camera...cause the magic would be spoiled. I was just praying they didn't decide to eat the newly planted annuals... some dogs from the campground next door started barking....and more cars and people started arriving...and the deer looked toward our windows.... and realized their buddy, Calypso, would not be playing today.... then leisurely strolled toward the road.

If you are a regular reader of this blog... you know these deer are part of our lives here in Seaview.

Stan Wolfe.... with George W.

We didn't get many photos... a curse of being the host and master of ceremonies. There is a large tent behind me.

The salmon, hamburger and hot dog chefs.

The cub scout color guard.

Saying goodbye to the Pacific Ocean beach... (technically Lake Superior has a beach).

Past the weight limits of luggage... how will everything fit into the dorm room? (She has much more in storage at the Grandparents.)

Paris leaving from Portland Airport to Marquette, MI.

The roadies setting up for the picnic! Steve (he really was a roadie) making the stage, Paris mowing the lawn. Brett reroofed part of the carriage house and Nancy with her dog, Shi... tackles the Koi pond.

Paris has gotten a bit of sun from running and working in the yard. Calypso seems to sense she is leaving in a few days... so she is very cuddly.

Our children. Ryan (now 21, married with child and one on the way...living in North Carolina), Madison (21...one month older...in Toronto this week...rehearsing with The Stones), Paris (still 19...returning to Northern Michigan Univ. this week...volleyball season starts Sunday!) and Aura (age 20... graduated from my Alma Mater...Univ of Washington and currently in Morocco for 27 long months...with The Peace Corps.) This photo was taken in Feb. 1999 at Key West.

My father, Alvin, with his Dad... Eino Pihlaja.
